"We cannot allow the state to issue a symbol of intimidation," U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Houston, said to a crowd of community leaders outside the Civil Courthouse in downtown Saturday.Lee and other officials plan to go to Austin on Nov. 10, when the Department of Motor Vehicles votes on the design, with petitions and a letter from 17 state legislators to persuade them to vote against the license plates.

It is fortunate for this woman that political office doesn't require a minimum IQ because she wouldn't make the grade.
As for "intimidation" - the greatest "flag" denoting intimidation these days isn't a flag at all but a card - the "race card" - which Ms. Jackson Lee carries and displays all the time! Why isn't she honest? She should sponsor a "race card" license plate! At least then we would ALL know where we stood!
It's only "intimidating" if they accept it as being intimidating. If they ignore it, it has no control over them. They are submitting to the flag.
Miss Lee needs to read a history book about the flag. It is a christian symbol, the St.Andrews cross modeled after the flag of Scotland. The flag represents freedom from tyrnanny,valor,courage,pride.
So, Miss Lee sit down and read a history book about the flag!
